February, the month we celebrate Saint Valentine and all things amoré. It’s a time for gift giving, gift receiving, and secret admirers can present themselves, all in the name of luuuurve. Well, at Mr Hobbs Gin, you may be surprised to know, we have a little office romance of our own and it’s about time we spill the beans.
Okay it’s not exactly a secret but… Jonathan and Suzy Hobbs are the husband and wife team/ business masterminds, behind our ever-growing portfolio of products and also the current Directors of our parent company Hobbs of Henley. When they’re not running the Hobbs family pleasure boating business, they’re creating delicious gin products and in between all that they’re raising three delightful daughters and caring for their own brood of various pets at home. So, after almost 25 years of being together and plenty to show for it, this dynamic duo continues to build the brand and the family legacy of boat hire along the Thames, complimented by their latest and greatest project of launching all the wonderful Mr Hobbs Gin products we currently have available. It doesn’t stop there though, 2020 holds the launch of (YEP!) *More Gin* and plenty of exciting business endeavours.
That means, this year we celebrate the almost-quarter-of-a-century-long marriage between our Co-Founders, the 3-year Original Mr Hobbs Gin anniversary and 150 years of Hobbs of Henley, all marked with a suitably special new drink that we can’t wait to share with you. If that isn’t cause for a few bevvies and a bit of a knees up, then we don’t know what is.
The Hobbs family as a whole are intrinsically involved with their hometown of Henley on Thames and it was part of the inspiration for Suzy & Jonnie’s collection of cherished family tipples we all enjoy today. Using local botanicals found in the area, with the founding father proudly emblazoned on the gin bottle, they celebrate the Oxfordshire community in every aspect of the business. Expect more of the same with this year’s newest arrival, soon to be on a shelf near you.
Throughout February (and beyond) we are cracking on with the creation of the new gin ready for a launch in Springtime, perfecting the recipe, making sure it’s in keeping with the Henley name and drawing inspiration from the river upon which the Hobbs family business is built; the glorious Thames. This’ll be keeping us nice and busy, so expect updates along the way!
